Originating in Changsha, Hunan, Xiang Embroidery is one of China's Four Great Embroideries and a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Born in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, it matured into a unique art form by the late Qing Dynasty. Guided by Chinese paintings, it uses needles as brushes and threads as pigments. It is globally renowned for its lifelike lions and tigers, crafted with the exclusive "Pengmao stitch," as well as its magical "double-sided completely different embroidery."
Today, this ancient craft, carrying the rich cultural heritage of Hunan, is continuously breathing new life into its millennia-old tradition.
